Pet Diagnostics in New Berlin, WI

Using Diagnostics to Benefit Pets

Diagnostic tools in veterinary medicine are invaluable. Physical exams, although extremely important, cannot always give us a complete picture for a diagnosis.  At New Berlin Animal Hospital, we believe that effective treatments are borne from a complete understanding of your pet’s condition, and diagnostics are instrumental in achieving that. Our equipment includes digital X-rays, ultrasound, endoscopy, and  CBC and chemistry profile machines.

Digital Imaging Technology: X-rays & Ultrasound

Digital X-rays and ultrasound allow us to evaluate your pet internally. We can view your pet’s skeletal structure, abdominal and chest cavities, organs, and more. With digital X-ray, we generate clear, detailed, static images (with significantly less radiation than film X-ray). Meanwhile, ultrasound uses sound waves to digitally recreate a live view of your pet’s organs, glands, and abdomen. Both of these work together to help us diagnose the following:

  • Fractured bones
  • Foreign body ingestion
  • Bladder or kidney stones
  • Heart enlargement
  • Organ disease
  • Fluid accumulation
  • Gastrointestinal problems
  • Pregnancy
  • And more

An endoscope is a unique medical instrument that comprises a flexible tube with a camera at the end of it. Its primary use is exploratory. We can insert it into the mouth, rectum, ear canal, nasal passage and passage to safely examine, in full color, these body cavities. This helps us identify abnormalities, foreign bodies, and more. It also allows us to take a biopsy sample of suspicious tissue if needed. It is far safer and less invasive than an exploratory surgery which would require cutting of the tissue
